Oranges are good. Cinnamon is good. Put them together with my second favorite breakfast item, (omelets are first) and you’ve got yourself a good ol’ fashioned party in your mouth!

I learned this recipe from Uncle Jeff, who for some reason, first tried to make an early morning cocktail with the ingredients found here. Yes, he even included the bread in the blender, citing some need to save precious time and electricity in the morning. Right.

So, I removed the ample amounts of Vodka he had called for, and adapted this for home cooking. Enjoy!

M.F.O. 6 1/2 : If you don’t do this quite right, you’ll have a nasty burned on mess in the bottom of your pan/casserole. Fire fighters have no sense of humor at four o’ clock in the morning.

I was blessed with having my Grandma live with us for most of my childhood and young adult life. Her story was like that of most immigrants: she came to America at a young age with very little money, but managed to learn English, raise a family, and educate herself. She was also instrumental in not only teaching me to cook, but also instilling in me a lifelong passion for food.

This is a fritatta recipe she showed me when I was young. Unfortunately, I have never quite been able to make it the same way she did. Most of the time, it seemed as though she threw together a bunch of stuff she found in the fridge, but it always seemed to turn out just right.

MFO:3 Egg shells lying on the floor, bits of veggies stuck to countertops, and assorted unknown scraps of something stuck in my hair! Super.

Even on my most hung-over, craziest, most screwed-up-worst morning ever, I would never try cooking my sausage on the grill of a Bronco. And with that said, here’s something quick and easy for breakfast…

Seriously – Just like my Auntie Gertrude, super easy to do.

Mess Factor of : 5
The only way to not make a mess doing this recipe is to hire someone else to do it for you. Maybe Sophie Marceau could come over and help. Sophie, Please come over! We don’t have to cook, if you don’t want to. We could make love, and order Chinese take out, and then snuggle by the fireplace. Call me!

Who am I kidding? Cholesterol free omelets? Yeah, right. You might as well be a Chicago Cubs fan- in other words, don’t believe the hype. Really, I just wanted to get your attention. With all the flip-flopping about whether eggs are good or bad for your health, I don’t have any idea. What I do know, is that omelets are tasty and easy to make. And, if you have a special someone staying over for breakfast in the morning, this is a great way to impress them. Or not. If you’ve awakened to find that you’ve managed to find the hairiest, coyote ugly, nastiest creature that only beer goggles can help get some lovin’, maybe you won’t want to make these, after all. Unless you’ve taken pity on this hapless guy/girl, and are trying to be a better person. Really, if they’re that bad, hand them some cab fare and shoo them out the door. You’ve got a reputation to maintain, right?

Mess Factor of : 6
Every time I make a nice, big omelet, I find dried, crusty egg somewhere it shouldn’t be. The counter, cabinet doors and even the glass shelf in the fridge are all places I’ve found rock hard egg stuck to. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how it got there, but I wind up needing a paint scraper to peel the crap off. My cabinets look as though they were attacked by a herd of grizzlies, with all the nice, deep scratches in the finish.
